Lead, Systems Administration Automation
About the role
As a System Administrator at Kyndryl, you’ll solve complex problems and identify potential future issues across the spectrum of platforms and services. You’ll be at the forefront of new technology and modernization, working with some of our biggest clients – which means some of the biggest in the world. There’s never a typical day as a System Administrator at Kyndryl, because no two projects are alike.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, maintain, and enhance mainframe system automation to support system availability and stability
- Administer and support automation policies, configuration, and custom routines for IBM Z environments and AIOPs
- Maintain automation product levels, apply maintenance (PTFs), and coordinate upgrades and enhancements
- Collaborate with operations, application, and vendor teams to improve automation coverage and reduce manual intervention
- Increase efficiency through automation, templates, and standardization
- Participate in modernization and automation initiatives to improve quality, productivity, and operational maturity
- Provide on-call or off-hours support as required by the account
Requirements
- Strong experience with IBM Z / Mainframe environments
- Hands-on experience with System Automation products, such as: IBM System Automation (SA z/OS), OPS/MVS or equivalent automated operations tools, BMC MainView AutoOperator or similar (where applicable)
- Solid knowledge of z/OS system internals, JES, and subsystem interactions
- Experience with event monitoring, automated recovery, and policy-based automation
- Familiarity with Change, Incident, and Problem Management processes
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in Mainframe Systems Programming, Automation, or Operations Engineering
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a high-availability environment
- Customer-focused mindset with attention to detail
Skills
- Strong technical skills in IBM Z / Mainframe environments
- Experience with System Automation products
- Knowledge of z/OS system internals and subsystem interactions

Pay & Schedule
The compensation range for the position in the U.S. is $79,920 to $152,160 based on a full-time schedule. Your actual compensation may vary depending on your geography, job-related skills and experience. For part time roles, the compensation will be adjusted appropriately. The pay or salary range will not be below any applicable state, city or local minimum wage requirement. There is a different applicable compensation range for the following work locations: California (San Francisco Bay Area): $95,880 to $182,520, California (All Other): $87,960 to $167,400, Colorado: $79,920 to $152,160, Massachusetts: $79,920 to $167,400, New York City: $95,880 to $182,520, Washington: $87,960 to $167,400, Washington DC: $87,960 to $167,400.
