About the job
Kent is looking for a Lead Land Surveyor to be based in Deer Park, TX and support regional project site(s).
Responsibilities
- Conduct daily tool box meetings.
- Obtain work requests from Survey Supervisor.
- Familiarize with work area locations, review travel arrangements with Supervisor, and manage all safety concerns.
- Inform Supervisor if survey activities require support for permit issues and other contractor support (e.g., scaffolds, test trenches, special lifts, or required equipment).
- Supply Supervisor information to maintain inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Ensure the Survey Crew checks in and out at control center or obtains proper work authorization in accordance with client procedures.
- Prepare execution plan and obtain necessary documentation to execute field survey work.
- Obtain proper safety equipment from Safety team. Report if equipment not available.
- Contact survey request client to coordinate field review and execution (when necessary).
- Regulate work to ensure all site safety standards, work practices, and guidelines are adhered to.
- Communicate any safety issues, regardless of the severity, to Supervisor.
- Keep Supervisor informed of all movements outside of the MOB.
- Receive Client Work Permit or approval to begin field survey work.
- Communicate Work Permit issues to Supervisor (if necessary).
- Execute field survey work & report work estimate to Supervisor.
- Resolve technical issues in the field. Communicate issues to Supervisor.
- Complete survey write-up report and issue it to Supervisor.
- Assign Junior Surveyors to download Survey data.
- Assign Junior Surveyors duties to keep the vehicles clean and prepared for the next work request.
- Have Crew report to Supervisor for extra assignments to maintain a productive crew during down times when Lead Surveyor is preparing or completing survey write-up report.
- After all notes are complete, let Crew review survey for completeness.
- Update Survey Work Request Program in PASS.
Skills
- Diploma or College Degree in relevant technical discipline.
- Minimum 8 to 10 years’ relevant experience.
- Integrate new tools and techniques into existing workflows to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
- Proven experience with Faro & Leica Geosystems survey hardware and software.
- Ability to complete required BASIC and Site-Specific safety training as necessary.
- TWIC Required.
- Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication and skills.
- Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Effective time management, planning and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in multiple groups in a team-oriented environment and independently when necessary.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work for extended durations, holidays, and weekends when necessary.
- Positive attitude and embrace charter values.
- Foster good relationships and team working ethic with sub-contract teams to promote safe working practices and efficiency.
- Experience of working in an integrated team from diverse locations required.
- Some lifting; max 50lbs.
