About the role
As a Lead Substation Physical Engineer, you will work on projects for electric utilities at voltages from 12kV up to 500kV. This role offers exposure to how renewable energy integrates into the electric system and involves using knowledge of digital logic design, AC and DC circuits to design substation electrical projects.
Responsibilities
- Execute substation physical projects
- Communicate with the internal team and clients to meet project needs
- Perform quality control checks on substation physical design projects
- Create and check bill of materials for substation physical
- Attend site visits at customer locations
- Comply with quality control and safe work practices
- Work with client standards to implement design
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, or related degree with 8+ years of related substation physical design experience
- Experience with grounding studies, lightning protection, and lighting studies
- Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with the internal team and clients
- Ability to meet deadlines under pressure
- Collaborative and leader who works effectively in a team environment
- Self-starter with strong analytical skills and proven problem-solving abilities
- Strong computer competency
- Willingness to travel to project and/or client sites
Qualifications
- US Citizen and able to pass a DOE background check
- Engineer Intern (“EI” or “EIT”) professional certification
- Professional Engineer (“PE”) License
- Working knowledge of protection and control design
- Experience with bus calculation
- Experience with WinIGS or CDEGE
- Masters degree in related field
Skills
- Knowledge of digital logic design, AC and DC circuits

Pay
The pay range for this position is $107,900.00 - $195,050.00 annually.
Schedule
This role offers a hybrid schedule of (2-4) days a week in the Walled Lake, MI office.
