About the role
The candidate will be involved in projects with our Power Generation Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.
Responsibilities
- Design light foundations and structures for solar farms, battery energy storage facilities, and substation projects
- Design heavy foundations and structures for large power generation projects: generators, turbines, transformers, pipe racks, gas compressors, metal building systems, and masonry walls/buildings
- Design structural steel systems for buildings, Platforms, equipment supports, etc.
- Coordinate design requirements with drafter/designers
- Occasionally travel to clients and projects and sites to interface with clients, verify existing conditions, and monitor construction progress (5%-10% travel)
- Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a confident and professional manner
- Proactively collaborate with other engineers, professionals, and infrastructure authorities on Federal, State, regional, local, and privately funded improvement and development projects, as well as proposal and business development opportunities
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- 7+ years of relevant post education experience in engineering discipline and prior structural or civil design experience
- PE license
- Proficient with structural engineering principles, practices, process, and the application to project work-related issues
- Well-defined specific knowledge of relevant structural and civil construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements
- Experience with power generation, transmission, and distribution projects
- Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience
- Demonstrated high-level of self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment
- Highly proficient with technical writing, office automation, discipline-specific design software (i.e., MicroStation, AutoCAD, RISA, STADD), technology, math principles, physics, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools
- Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, computations, statistical analysis and arriving at the most effective, economical, and logical solution
- Demonstrated effectiveness at coordinating and assertively directing subcontractors and others to consistently complete tasks safely and efficiently
- Knowledge of geotechnical engineering
- Experience with pre-engineered metal building systems
- Experience with seismic analysis and design

Pay
Expected Salary (all locations): $98,300 - $175,230
