Lead Sterile Processing Certified CRCST or CSPDT Tech 2nd Shift

Serves as shift charge person

Serves as shift charge person in the absence of department leadership, prioritizing work to ensure instrumentation and equipment availability.

Ensures safety

• Maintains safe work practices for all employees
• Makes sure staff use personal protective equipment (PPE) in decontamination area
• Takes appropriate action in emergency situations

Rotates assignments

• Rotates assignments among various areas within the department
• Includes decontamination, surgical tray assembly, sterilization processes, and equipment management

Operates and selects sterilization methods

• Operates complex sterilization equipment
• Selects the correct method of sterilization based on manufacturers' instructions for use (IFU)

Monitors and communicates

• Maintains accurate records of sterilization practices
• Takes corrective action if sterilization parameters are not met
• Communicates effectively and uses the chain of command to resolve issues

Manages equipment and inventory

• Maintains oversight of supply and equipment inventory required for the department
• Monitors work environment to ensure infection control standards are met
• Ensures daily cleaning and takes corrective action for environmental controls
• Identifies and resolves issues associated with malfunctioning equipment

Responds to problem calls

• Responds to problem calls from all customers
• Communicates professionally with hospital team members

Education and Certifications

• Certified Registered Central Service Tech (CRCST) [Required]
• Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) [Required]
