Lead STEM Teacher for After School

About the role

Black Rocket provides unique enrichment and educational programs to children and young adults. Our distinct programs in creative sciences and digital arts focus on the intersection of creativity and technology. Each course emphasizes self-empowerment, cognitive reasoning, and divergent thinking through hands-on learning.

Responsibilities

• Guide students through our world-class, project-based learning curriculum to discover new technology skills in coding, Minecraft, ROBLOX, video editing, game design and more!
• Work in-room with excited students during 10-week sessions, with options to continue into additional seasons.
• Receive paid training.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Completed 48 college units minimally OR have taken and passed the NCLB Exam or compliant equivalent
• Experience with technology or teaching preferred
• Available after school hours (approximately 2:00 - 6:00 PM), daily Monday - Friday
• Consistent attendance is REQUIRED, substitutes are not available
• Instructors must be at least 21 years of age and have significant experience working with children ages 8-14 or technology, both is even better!
• Experience with children in an educational setting is preferred but not required
• Comfortable working with teacher-to-student ratios of 20:1 for elementary schoolers
• Strong technology skills preferred, such as a background in 3D modeling, digital arts, coding, game creation or design, animation, robotics, modifying games, video editing, competitive gaming, etc. or significant knowledge of Minecraft or Roblox, including modding or streaming
