About the role

This role serves as a key operational and technical resource for the Scripps Sports broadcast team, coordinating technical operations, transmission logistics, crewing, and production support for high-profile league broadcasts.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate technical production activities with NHL and NBA facilities throughout the United States and Canada.
  • Collaborate with league broadcast officials, arena contacts, crewing companies, specialized camera vendors, and mobile production truck providers.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation ("tech books") for each broadcast and team to ensure alignment across internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate transmission bookings and distribute transmission details to production crews supporting Scripps Sports properties.
  • Serve as a primary liaison for engineering teams regarding transmission setups, intercom infrastructure, and technical troubleshooting.
  • Assist in evaluating and improving production workflows to increase efficiency and cost-effectiveness while maintaining premium broadcast quality.
  • Leverage industry vendor relationships to streamline broadcast operations and negotiate cost-effective service agreements.
  • Act as a key communication bridge between executive leadership, internal departments, and external partners.
  • Ensure compliance with established production processes and operational standards.
  • Support production budgeting, technical planning, crewing management, and operational initiatives across multiple sports properties.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Production, Communications, Engineering, Media Operations, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
  • Typically 8+ years of experience in live sports broadcast production, technical operations, or a related field preferred.
  • Up to 25% travel required, including travel throughout the United States and Canada to support venue operations and live broadcasts.
  • Must be available to respond to changing priorities, project adjustments, and live production requirements as needed.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and other times required to support live sports broadcasts.
