About the role

Jabil is seeking a Lead Software Test Development Engineer who will directly contribute to the validation test solutions in place for server hardware manufacturing facilities. You will play a vital role in ensuring the quality and reliability of hardware products in a large-scale production environment. This role requires experience within high-volume manufacturing environments, including server-level (L10) and rack-level (L11) systems. You will contribute to the end-to-end architecture, definition, development, and production deployment of production software applications and infrastructure spanning multiple customers and manufacturing regions. You will interface with internal engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams, as well as end customers, to ensure software deliverables meet Jabil’s rigorous manufacturing standards.

Responsibilities

  • Test System Development (Manufacturing Focus): Design and develop test systems specifically for hardware validation within high-volume manufacturing environments, including server-level (L10) and rack-level (L11/L12) systems. Create test plans, test cases, and test scripts to assess the functionality and performance of hardware components such as motherboards, memory, CPU, storage (SSD, HDD, NVMe), and PCIe devices (NIC, GPU, Mezz cards, RAID cards).
  • Test Software Development: Create, validate, release, and maintain test software and scripts that automate the testing process, including code for controlling test equipment, collecting and analyzing data, and generating test reports.
  • Test Sustaining: Support and maintain manufacturing server (L10) and rack (L11-L12) level test software and infrastructure deployed at production facilities, including implementing minor system configuration changes (e.g., new product variants or revisions).
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of test procedures, specifications, and infrastructure for manufacturing server (L10) and rack (L11-L12) systems.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, manufacturing engineers, and quality assurance personnel, to ensure alignment on testing requirements and quality standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5-8 years’ experience in a role related to manufacturing test development/sustaining with enterprise server, storage, or networking products.
  • Experience with server hardware interaction, validation, and configuration. Hands-on experience with hardware-based validation and manufacturing test systems is required. Candidates with experience limited to software QA, web/application testing, or test automation frameworks without direct interaction with server hardware and manufacturing environments will not be considered.
  • Experience in 2-3 of the following core skills (with expectation to expand as workload requires):
    • Programming/scripting languages: Python, Java, BASH. C, C++ experience a plus.
    • Linux development expertise with a solid understanding of its fundamentals: CentOS/Ubuntu.
    • Hardware and API solutions for controlling, managing, and stressing L10 devices (servers, network, and storage SSDs, NVMe): IPMI, Redfish, mprime, FIO, Linpack, ptugen, memtester, iperf. Strengths in Redfish and IPMI are highly desired.
    • Creation and configuration (DHCP, PXE boot, nginx) of Virtual Machines (VMs) using VMware.
    • Leading-edge networking systems, hardware, software, and protocols including enterprise Ethernet datacenter switching/routing L1, L2, and L3 (BGP, DHCP Relay, ECMP). Arista CloudVision is a plus.
    • Code versioning tools (Git preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of professional software engineering practices for the complete software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
  • Ability to work in multi-site and multi-cultural environments.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10%.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field is preferred. Relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Preferred qualifications:
    • Master’s Degree in EE/CE or Computer Science.
    • 10+ years of experience in the electronics manufacturing industry.
    • Experience with test architecture design and methodology.
    • Experience with hyperscale customers and environments.
    • Experience with 5+ of the core skills listed above.

Pay

The pay range for this role is $105,100 - $189,200. Job-related, non-discriminatory factors used to determine the actual offered rate include qualifications, experience, geographic location, education, external market data, and consideration of internal equity.
