Job Description
L3Harris is seeking a Lead, Software Engineer to join our team in Greenville, Texas. This role is for a hands-on technical leader who can design, develop, integrate, troubleshoot, and deliver Linux-based mission software for complex Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) systems.
Essential Functions
- Lead the design, development, implementation, integration, and sustainment of Linux-based mission software in complex system-of-systems environments.
- Develop and debug software using object-oriented and high-level languages such as C++, Java, Python, and Bash.
- Support mission software integration across software, hardware, networking, storage, and mission interface boundaries.
- Work closely with Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Integration and Test, cybersecurity, and program teams to deliver technical solutions in lab and operational environments.
- Perform software coding, code review, debugging, unit testing, and software component integration.
- Support Agile development and Development, Security, and Operations (DevSecOps) practices, including continuous integration and continuous delivery, automated testing, static code analysis, and security scan remediation.
- Contribute to software architecture, technical planning, interface definition, and design decisions for mission-focused products and subsystems.
- Troubleshoot software and hardware issues involving communications systems, networked components, operating system behavior, and integrated mission platforms.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance across design, implementation, troubleshooting, and integration activities.
- Support continuous improvement, process innovation, and lessons learned activities across the engineering organization.
- Able to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) Top Secret (TS) security clearance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience, or graduate degree and minimum 7 years of prior related experience.
- In lieu of a degree, minimum 13 years of prior related experience.
- Minimum 8 years of software development experience in Linux environments.
- Experience developing in C++ and/or Java.
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python and Bash.
- Experience with software component design, development, integration, and debugging in distributed or system-of-systems environments.
- Experience working in Agile software development environments.
Preferred Additional Skills
- Active DoD Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance.
- Experience on Aerospace, Defense, or ISR programs.
- Experience integrating mission software with communications systems, radio frequency systems, computer and network infrastructure, storage systems, multi-level security systems, or mission interface designs.
- Experience with automated test frameworks, continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines, static analysis tools, and secure software delivery workflows.
- Experience with containerization, virtualization, and hybrid computing environments such as Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.
- Experience with Structured Query Language (SQL) and NoSQL databases.
- Experience with software and hardware troubleshooting in integrated lab or operational environments.
- Experience with multithreaded, parallel, and/or graphics processing unit programming.
- Experience with Google Protocol Buffers, socket programming, and message-based or distributed software architectures.
