Lead Software Engineer, Search (Semantic Platform) for a leader in Enterprise Technology, remote US‑based, no visa sponsorship. The role leads the design and evolution of a modern search platform with a strong focus on semantic and hybrid search capabilities, shaping relevance, ranking, and indexing architecture while partnering with technical teammates to improve search performance, reliability, and scalability. It combines hands‑on engineering with technical leadership to deliver low‑latency search experiences across a complex enterprise environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of semantic search capabilities using OpenSearch
• Continuously evaluate and fine‑tune search relevance and ranking models
• Maintain and evolve core data ingestion and indexing pipelines
• Guide the technical roadmap and mentor team members
• Ensure the search platform meets ultra‑low latency and high‑availability requirements

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software development experience
• Deep hands‑on experience with OpenSearch or Elasticsearch at scale
• Proven experience in semantic and hybrid search implementations
• Strong proficiency in backend languages such as GoLang, Scala, or Java
• Experience with relational databases (MySQL) and distributed messaging tools (Kafka or RabbitMQ)
• Familiarity with the OpenSearch Neural Search plugin and k‑NN search
• Experience migrating large‑scale search infrastructures from Elasticsearch to OpenSearch
