Lead, Software Engineer - Salesforce
About the role
As a Lead Software Engineer - Salesforce in Group Insurance, you will partner with product owners, tech leads, designers, engineers, and delivery professionals to improve Group Insurance Products. You will code, test, and debug new and existing applications to implement capabilities that solve sophisticated business problems, deploy innovative products, services, and experiences to delight customers.
You will bring advanced technical expertise, excellent problem-solving skills, strong communication, teamwork, agile ways of working, business insight, inclusive leadership, and a continuous learning focus.
Responsibilities
- Build applications ensuring code follows latest coding practices and industry standards, using modern design patterns and architectural principles; remove technical impediments.
- Develop high-quality, well-documented, and efficient code adhering to all applicable Prudential standards.
- Collaborate with product owners to understand needs and define feature stories, and with tech leads to define technical design.
- Work with team members to understand the system end-to-end and deliver robust solutions that drive business impact.
- Write unit, integration, and functional automation tests; research problems discovered by quality assurance or product support and develop solutions.
- Bring a strong understanding of relevant and emerging technologies; provide input, coach team members, and embed learning and innovation in day-to-day work.
- Work on complex problems requiring analysis of situations or data and evaluation of intangible variables.
- Use programming languages including Python, Java, or JavaScript, and frameworks such as React, Spring Boot, and Node.js.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent experience in related fields.
- Ability to coach others with minimal guidance and leverage diverse ideas, experiences, and perspectives.
- Experience with agile development methodologies and Test-Driven Development (TDD).
- Knowledge of business concepts, tools, and processes needed for sound decision-making.

- Salesforce:
- Core Technical: Apex development (classes, triggers, batch processing).
- Lightning Web Components (LWC).
- SOQL/SOSL queries and optimization.
- Salesforce APIs (REST, SOAP, Bulk, Streaming).
- Visualforce (for legacy systems).
- Architecture & Integration:
- Salesforce DX and source-driven development.
- Integration patterns (middleware, ETL, event-driven).
- Platform events and Change Data Capture.
- MuleSoft or other integration platforms.
- DevOps & Governance:
- CI/CD pipelines for Salesforce (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Copado).
- Version control and release management.
- Governor limits management and optimization.
- Security model (profiles, permission sets, sharing rules).
- Advanced/Specialized Salesforce:
- Salesforce CPQ, Service Cloud, or Sales Cloud.

- Testing: Unit, interface, and end-user testing concepts and tooling (functional and non-functional); automated testing.
- Security: Secure coding, web application security, DevSecOps; concepts such as authentication, authorization, encryption, digital signature, JWT, SSL, web service proxies, firewall, SAML 2.0, OpenID Connect, OAuth 2.0.
- DevOps Tools & Practices: Branching techniques and usage of GitHub, Bitbucket, or Subversion; Jenkins.
- SDLC: Monitoring and logging techniques.

Pay
The salary range for this role is $133,600.00 to $220,400.00, with specific pricing varying based on geographic location, candidate experience, and skills.
