About the role

As a Lead Software Engineer within the Commercial and Investment Bank Equities team at JPMorganChase, you will be an integral part of an agile team enhancing, building, and delivering trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. Drive significant business impact through your technical expertise and problem-solving methodologies to tackle diverse challenges spanning multiple technologies and applications.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance and direction to support the business, technical teams, contractors, and vendors.
  • Spearhead the delivery of a greenfield initiative to transform the storage and access of loan-related legal documentation using AI to enhance user analysis capabilities.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders in Trading, QR, Operations, and other global teams to ensure loan management platforms—both internal and client-facing—deliver a world-class experience.
  • Contribute to the re-engineering and re-architecting of existing platforms to improve performance, availability, stability, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Lead and contribute to identifying and implementing solutions for recurring issues to improve operational stability of software applications and systems.
  • Drive design and architecture discussions to leverage new and emerging technologies for complex business deliveries.
  • Offer leadership, support, and clear direction to global team members to enhance overall team performance.
  • Actively contribute to the engineering community as an advocate for firmwide frameworks, tools, and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) practices.
  • Foster a team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages, including Python and React.
  • Hands-on experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
  • Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment using modern programming languages.
  • Strong knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Solid understanding of agile methodologies, application resiliency, and system integration.
  • Ability to tackle design and functionality problems independently with minimal oversight.
  • Degree-level education, ideally in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with TypeScript.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based technologies, preferably AWS.
  • Experience with order management and trading user interfaces, including knowledge of Athena.
  • Understanding of financial products, specifically equity-based loans.
