About the role

As a Lead Software Engineer within Consumer and Community Banking - AML/KYC Update team at JPMorganChase, you are an integral part of an agile team that enhances, builds, and delivers trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you will conduct critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and support multiple Java and React applications on AWS and internal cloud platforms, ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability
  • Execute creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with the ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches
  • Develop secure, high-quality production code, and review and debug code written by others
  • Identify opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to the development team, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment
  • Mentor and coach junior and mid-level engineers, driving a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence
  • Analyze and resolve complex technical issues, ensuring minimal disruption to application functionality and user experience
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment, including Product Managers and Architects, to deliver high-quality solutions
  • Drive architectural decisions for scalable, resilient, and secure distributed systems, and own technical roadmaps ensuring alignment with business objectives
  • Contribute to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies
  • Ensure production stability through proactive monitoring, incident response, and root cause analysis

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience
  • 8+ years of coding experience in Java (Spring Boot, Microservices) and 2+ years of React development (TypeScript, Redux)
  • Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL services
  • Knowledge of EAC (Enterprise Application Configuration) and Terraform for infrastructure as code and environment provisioning
  • Proficiency in GenAI solutions
  • Advanced understanding of agile methodologies and cross-product team collaboration
  • Experience with continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD), application resiliency, and security practices
  • Experience with Microservices, API development, and Cloud Technologies (AWS, Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Proficient in SQL/NoSQL databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWS Certifications
  • Full stack development experience
  • Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ)
  • Knowledge of security best practices including OAuth 2.0, JWT, and secure coding standards
  • Experience with performance tuning, profiling, and optimization of Java and React applications
  • Exposure to AI technologies and emerging tools
  • Experience in a financial organization or other highly regulated industry

Pay

We offer a competitive total rewards package including base salary determined based on the role, experience, skill set, and location. Those in eligible roles may receive commission-based pay and/or discretionary incentive compensation, paid in the form of cash and/or forfeitable equity, awarded in recognition of individual achievements and contributions.
