The company is seeking Full Stack Software Engineers who are passionate about marrying data with emerging technologies. As a Lead Software Engineer you will be at the forefront of a major transformation within Capital One’s Enterprise Platforms Technology (EPTech), helping establish practices for building technology solutions across the company.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers with deep experience in distributed micro‑services and full‑stack systems to create solutions that meet regulatory needs.
  • Share your passion for staying on top of tech trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies, participating in internal and external technology communities, and mentoring other members of the engineering community.
  • Collaborate with digital product managers and deliver robust cloud‑based solutions that drive powerful experiences for millions of Americans.
  • Utilize programming languages such as JavaScript, Java, HTML/CSS, TypeScript, SQL, Python, and Go, work with open‑source RDBMS and NoSQL databases, container orchestration services (Docker, Kubernetes), and a variety of AWS tools and services.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • At least 4 years of experience in software engineering (internship experience does not apply).
  • At least 1 year of experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree.
  • 7+ years of experience in at least one of the following: JavaScript, Java, TypeScript, SQL, Python, or Go.
  • 5+ years of experience with AWS.
  • 2+ years of experience with CI/CD.
  • 4+ years of experience in open‑source frameworks.
  • 2+ years of experience in Agile practices.
  • Experience leveraging interactive AI tooling to accelerate productivity, utilizing capabilities beyond basic code completion.

Pay

McLean, VA: $197,300 – $225,100 annual base salary for Lead Software Engineer. Candidates hired in other locations will receive the pay range associated with that location. This role is also eligible for performance‑based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and/or long‑term incentives.
