Lead Software Engineer - Full Stack Java/React

Job Responsibilities

  • Architect, build, and maintain backend services and APIs using Java (preferably Java 17+) and Spring Boot.
  • Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems.
  • Designs RESTful and/or GraphQL interfaces; ensures robust authentication, authorization, and input validation.
  • Owns system performance, reliability, observability (metrics, logging, tracing), and security best practices.
  • Writes comprehensive automated tests (unit, integration, end-to-end) and drives CI/CD excellence.
  • Leads code reviews, mentors engineers, and promotes engineering standards and clean architecture.
  • Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems.
  • Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture.
  • Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies.
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills

  • 10+ Years of Experience
  • Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Advanced in one or more programming language(s)
  • Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods
  • Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and at least one NoSQL store (e.g., MongoDB).
  • Knowledge of messaging/streaming (Kafka, RabbitMQ) and asynchronous processing
  • Solid testing practices: JUnit, Mockito, Spring Test; front-end testing with Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress/Playwright
  • Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
  • Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
  • In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
  • PRACTICAL CLOUD NATIVE EXPERIENCE

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Develops high-quality, reusable React components (React 18+, TypeScript) and front-end features
  • Hands-on with AWS services: ECS/EKS or Lambda, API Gateway, S3, CloudFront, RDS/Aurora, DynamoDB, SNS/SQS, CloudWatch
  • Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform or CloudFormation)
  • Experience with Kubernetes and service mesh (Istio/Linkerd)
  • Observability tooling: OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Prometheus
