Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Software Engineer (Data) within Technology, aligned to the Enterprise Functions Technology Group. This role sits within the Workplace Technology Instrumentation Engineering Team, which is building a next-generation data platform to serve as the foundational data layer enabling Wells Fargo's transformation into a product-centric organization. The Lead Software Engineer (Data) plays a critical role in the hands-on transformation of the current SQL Server implementation to Databricks, enabling advanced analytics, data governance, and streamlined solutions for onboarding and managing data.
Responsibilities
- Lead complex technology initiatives, including those that are companywide with broad impact.
- Act as a key participant in developing standards and companywide best practices for engineering complex and large-scale technology solutions.
- Design, code, test, debug, and document projects and programs.
- Review and analyze complex, large-scale technology solutions for tactical and strategic business objectives, enterprise technological environment, and technical challenges.
- Make decisions in developing standard and companywide best practices for engineering and technology solutions, requiring understanding of industry best practices and new technologies.
- Collaborate and consult with key technical experts, senior technology teams, and external industry groups to resolve complex technical issues and achieve goals.
- Lead projects, teams, or serve as a peer mentor.
Requirements
- 5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.
- 3+ years of Databricks experience.
- 3+ years of Python experience.
- 3+ years of SQL experience.
Qualifications
- Able to architect solutions that leverage modern data platforms and reporting/BI platforms.
- Experience with migrating from SQL Server to Databricks, Snowflake, or other modern data platforms.
- Able to work with international teams.
- Expertise in public (Azure) and private cloud technologies.
- Understanding of advanced data management and data cloud technologies.
- Understanding and implementation of advanced artificial intelligence (AI) technologies.
- Experience in data architecture, including data modeling, data pipelines, and governance frameworks.
Schedule
This position offers a hybrid work schedule with up to 5% travel time.
