About the role
Join the Publix Technology Team as a Lead Software Engineer supporting the CQA and Customer Care business areas. In this role, you will provide technical leadership and hands-on engineering expertise to deliver secure, compliant, and scalable enterprise platforms and integrations.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and guidance across multiple teams and platforms, ensuring alignment with architectural standards, security policies, and compliance requirements
- Serve as the technical expert for assigned systems, providing guidance and resolution for highly complex technical issues
- Translate complex business requirements into scalable, reliable, and maintainable technical solutions
- Lead and participate in technical design reviews, peer code reviews, and architecture discussions to ensure solution quality and consistency
- Develop and maintain implementation plans, technical documentation, and operational runbooks
- Partner with Business Systems Analysts, Product Owners, QA Analysts, and stakeholders to define acceptance criteria and support user acceptance testing
- Guide and mentor software engineers through technical challenges, design decisions, and engineering best practices
- Diagnose and resolve complex system issues by identifying root causes and determining appropriate remediation and escalation paths
- Support after-hours implementations and provide on-call support for critical systems as required
- Advocate for continuous improvement, innovation, and operational excellence across supported platforms
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or another analytical discipline, or equivalent experience
- 7+ years of experience analyzing complex business problems and delivering scalable enterprise technology solutions
- 2+ years of experience developing and supporting enterprise applications using C# (.NET), Razor Pages, Telerik/Kendo controls, and modern UI frameworks
- 2+ years of experience integrating multiple systems using various interface patterns, including APIs, messaging, and file-based integrations
- 2+ years of experience designing and implementing unit and integration testing strategies
- 4+ years of experience supporting production systems and participating in operational support activities
- 2+ years of experience working within Agile and Scrum development environments
- 4+ years of experience mentoring and guiding software engineers while remaining hands-on in complex development efforts
- Expertise across the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Extensive experience with SQL Server and enterprise data management
- Deep understanding of design patterns and architectural frameworks, including microservices, REST APIs, and service-oriented architectures
- Strong understanding of performance optimization, scalability, resiliency, and operational support in enterprise environments
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical decision-making skills
- Ability to provide after-hours and on-call support for assigned systems
Qualifications
- Expertise in C# (.NET), Razor Pages, Telerik/Kendo controls, and modern UI frameworks
- Experience with API-driven, event-based, and integration-heavy solutions, including messaging and asynchronous processing
- Experience with cloud platforms and services, including cloud databases, messaging, and integration technologies
- Experience with automated testing, test-driven development (TDD), and modern DevOps practices
- Experience using CI/CD pipelines and source control platforms
- Experience extending and integrating commercial or SaaS platforms within an enterprise technology ecosystem
- Experience developing solutions that support contact center operations, customer interaction platforms, or enterprise service workflows
- Experience with AI-enabled platforms and automation capabilities, including: AI-assisted automation and decision support, Natural language processing (NLP) and text analytics, AI-driven classification, routing, or recommendation functionality
- Experience designing, configuring, or extending low-code / no-code platforms, including: Power Platform development (Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse), Integration of low-code solutions with enterprise systems
