Lead Software Engineer, Azure Solutions

About the role

As a Principal Consultant for Azure solutions, you will lead medium-scale client engagements and complex project delivery. This position focuses on solution architecture and design, technical leadership and mentoring, with expertise in Azure, DevOps, and Agile methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead medium-scale technical requirements elicitation, design, and scoping discussions internally and/or with existing and potential clients
• Decompose medium-scale requirements/user stories into tasks and accurately estimate effort for themselves or others
• Delegate technical tasks to other team members for multi-workstream projects of medium scale and moderate complexity
• Lead and drive projects, including both on- and off-shore resources
• Identify problems independently and demonstrate proactive ownership of their solution; vet and evaluate others’ proposed solutions and delegate ownership where appropriate
• Proactively and professionally raise and articulate risks with the PM, project delivery team, and internal leadership
• Collaborate with the project team and internal leadership on potential solutions and mitigation approaches, and participate in related client communication
• Demonstrate a proven, repeatable track record of successful medium-scale project delivery
• Monitor other consultants’ completion of tasks, help eliminate or work around impediments, and identify additional work for others
• Assist in winning and/or extending business by working cross-functionally with sales and delivery to develop client proposals and presentations around process and solution options, clearly explaining technical concepts for shared understanding to facilitate decision-making
• Advise clients in an atmosphere of partnership at the primary stakeholder level
• Proactively guide and consult technical and non-technical project-level client stakeholders on technical concepts or design implications
• Present to clients in a business-focused, impactful, and persuasive manner

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience with Agile delivery and adaptability to methodologies within the client environment
• 5+ years’ experience leading consulting projects for large clients with three or more of the following types of projects, and considered a go-to source of knowledge for others:
  • Azure Compute (PaaS & Containers)
  • Data Stores: Fit-for-purpose selection
  • Messaging & Events
  • API Design & Management
  • Integration & APIs
  • AI & Search
  • SDLC/DevOps/Platform Engineering
  • Performance & Scalability/Reliability & Release
  • Identity & Access (Application-centric)
  • Monitoring & Observability
  • Documentation & Leadership
• 5+ years’ experience leading consulting projects for large clients with four or more of the following tools and technologies, and considered a go-to source of knowledge for others:
  • Design patterns and architectural concepts
  • .NET Core
  • C#
  • Front-end development tools (Angular, React, Blazor, or comparable)
  • ORM – Entity Framework/Dapper
  • Data storage – relational and non-relational
  • DevOps automation: CI/CD & IaC
  • Visual Studio and source control: GitHub/ADO, Git and pull requests (e.g., gitflow)
  • Automated tests
  • Scrum/Kanban/Agile
• Experience contributing to user stories and backlog content, including task management and progress visibility
• 4 or more Microsoft Azure Application Development & DevOps, AI & Machine Learning, and/or Architecture & Development certifications; AZ-204, AZ-102 and AZ-400 highly recommended
