Lead Software Engineer
About the role
As a Lead Software Engineer here at Honeywell Aerospace, you will play a critical role in the design, implementation, and management of complex systems and solutions that drive innovation, safety, and efficiency in the aerospace industry. You will work within cross-functional teams on cutting-edge projects that transform the way aircraft operate. Your experience in software engineering will be instrumental in shaping the future of aerospace technology. You will report directly to our Director of Engineering, working out of Phoenix, AZ location on a Hybrid work schedule.
Responsibilities
- Work on next-generation and new product development projects, directly contributing to the advancement of aviation technology in the Airborne Traffic, Collision Avoidance & Surveillance Avionics space.
- Lead a team of software engineers, providing technical guidance and mentorship on critical technology projects.
- Drive customer engagement while delivering programs on schedule, within scope, and on budget.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define software requirements and specifications.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and mentor team members.
- Design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality software solutions in accordance with project specifications.
- Conduct code reviews, identify areas for improvement, and implement best practices.
- Ensure the timely and successful delivery of software projects within scope and budget.
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in software engineering.
- Able to code in multiple languages.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or another related field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience working in various application areas supporting Avionics functions, Navigation and Airborne Surveillance (TCAS, Transponder, ADS-B, DME, UAT).
- Strong proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, Assembly.
- Experience with software development tools, version control systems, and continuous integration/deployment pipelines.
- Deep understanding of software development best practices, design patterns, and architecture principles.
- Able to manage project risks and implement mitigation strategies effectively.
- Master's Degree or advanced professional certification preferred.
- Competence to convey subtle or complex messages clearly, as appropriate for the topic and audience.
- Passion for innovation and continuous learning.
- Individuals that quickly analyze, incorporate and apply new information and concepts.
- Multi-tasking and ability to adapt dictated by project changes.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
