About the role
The Lead ServiceNow Software Engineer will play a crucial role in delivering solutions that enhance customer experiences and drive business outcomes. This role requires a strong commitment to technical leadership, customer-centric engineering, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Drive accountability for customer and business outcomes through the development of engineering solutions that address complex problems with valuable results.
- Lead requirement analysis, component design, development, unit testing, integrations, and support for advanced software solutions.
- Maintain code integrity, ensure feasibility, and align with business and customer goals, while being hands-on and self-driven.
- Develop lean engineering solutions through rapid, inexpensive experimentation to solve customer needs, engaging with customers and product teams throughout the process.
- Adopt a lean, iterative approach to delivery, prioritizing action and evidence over extensive planning.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product management, experience, and delivery to integrate diverse perspectives and make informed decisions.
- Work with diverse teams to foster a collaborative environment that enhances synergy and innovation.
- Strive to be a role model in modern software engineering practices, including Agile methodologies and DevSecOps, to optimize solutioning and product delivery.
- Translate business/user needs, architectures, and UX/UI designs into technical specifications and code, quickly acquiring domain-specific knowledge.
- Communicate complex technical concepts clearly and inspire teammates and product teams through well-structured arguments and evidence-based trade-offs.
- Engage and collaborate with product engineering teams at all organizational levels, including customers as needed, building and maintaining constructive relationships.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with ServiceNow development, including JavaScript, Business Rules, Script Includes, UI Actions, Client Scripts, Flow Designer, ServiceNow APIs, and GlideRecord queries.
- 5+ years of experience with ServiceNow cloud-native platform capabilities such as ITSM, ITOM, CMDB, ITBM, HRSD, CSM, and ServiceNow integration.
- 1+ year of experience with ServiceNow AI/ML and GenAI features such as Predictive Intelligence, Virtual Agent, and Now Intelligence.
- Ability to travel 10% based on the work and products being developed.
- Limited immigration sponsorship may be available.
Preferred
- Experience with cloud-native engineering, using FaaS/PaaS/micro-services on cloud hyper-scalers such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- Prior software engineering experience with an understanding of Business Context Diagrams (BCDs), sequence, activity, state, entity relationship, and data flow diagrams, as well as OOP/OOD, data structures, algorithms, and code instrumentation.
- Prior experience using methodologies and tools such as XP, Lean, DevSecOps, SRE, ADO, GitHub, and SonarQube to rapidly deliver high-quality solutions, as well as familiarity with ServiceNow-specific tools like ServiceNow Studio, Automated Test Framework (ATF), and ServiceNow CI/CD practices.
