About the role
The Lead Server plays a vital role in the dining experience of our residents by ensuring a welcoming, efficient, and high-quality food service operation. This position acts as a liaison between the front-of-house and back-of-house teams and is responsible for supervising, training, and supporting the dining room staff to ensure consistency in service and resident satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Oversight of daily dining room operations, ensuring timely and professional service during all meal periods.
- Lead by example by providing exceptional customer service and modeling proper etiquette and professionalism.
- Train and mentor new servers and assist with ongoing coaching for existing team members.
- Aid in creating and maintaining staff schedules to ensure proper coverage for all meal services.
- Assist in pre-service meetings to review menu specials, dietary changes, and service expectations.
- Collaborate with the Culinary Director and/or the Dining Room Supervisor and kitchen staff to ensure accuracy and timeliness of meal orders.
- Address resident feedback or concerns promptly and professionally, escalating as necessary.
- Support servers with table service and room tray deliveries during high-volume times.
- Ensure proper use and upkeep of equipment and supplies.
- Participate in monthly in-services and assist in conducting service training as needed.
Requirements
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year of dining service or hospitality experience, preferably in senior living or healthcare.
- Required Health Screening, TB Clearance, and Criminal Record Clearance.
- Any special licenses, certifications, and certificates (First Aid/ CPR Certified).
Qualifications
- Able to speak, read, write, and understand the English language fluently.
- Able to work additional hours which could include evenings and weekends.
Skills
- Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, including staff training, scheduling, and conflict resolution.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and compassionately with residents, staff, and families.
- Ability to execute tasks in a timely fashion.
- Familiar with industry’s best practices.
- Knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen.
- A team player with good communication skills.
- Ability to stay positive under pressure.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to follow both oral and written directions.
- Proven ability to have patience and compassion to serve in a client facing role.
Physical Requirements
- Stand for prolonged period of time.
- Must be able to push, pull, carry, and lift up to 25lbs.
Pay
$19.00- $21.50 per hour.
