About the Role

Convergint is looking for a full-time, enthusiastic, results-driven, and forward-thinking Lead Security Programmer/Commissioning Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will oversee all aspects of assigned projects, including planning, scheduling, directing, application engineering, budgeting, and procurement. You will also manage field installation, start-up, and project close-out, ensuring projects are executed within budgeted cost and time schedules while maintaining positive cash flow. This position serves as a key interface with customers, focusing on maximizing customer satisfaction, safety, and quality assurance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of assigned projects (typically valued up to $1M) from award through completion, including overall site management for successful and timely delivery within budget.
  • Prepare project installation plans, manage execution, and implement job procedures.
  • Translate customer needs and requirements into detailed proposals and project implementation plans; review and approve estimated costs prior to bid; engage in contract negotiation; provide technical assistance to the sales team.
  • Supervise project design engineering, installation labor, and subcontractors; prepare project schedules, subcontracts, change proposals, and invoices; assist with collections.
  • Effectively communicate project requirements to the team and maintain accurate records of job status, changes, material flow, and other control records.
  • Act as the customer’s best service provider, ensuring Convergint remains the customer’s first choice for service.
  • Identify potential project risks and develop strategies to minimize impact and control deviations from estimated costs and deadlines.
  • Proactively communicate project schedules, changes, and related activities to customers to improve satisfaction.
  • Manage procurement of materials, supplies, and services to ensure timely and cost-effective project completion within budget.
  • Establish project milestones, analyze costs, and review actual vs. estimated job costs; adjust project plans or cost estimates as needed.
  • Manage execution and review of all contract terms, including cost control, delivery, quality standards, and customer requirements.
  • Oversee direct reports (if applicable) and manage subcontractor selection and work.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

Requirements

  • Lead Security Programmer/Commissioning Engineer experience in a technical environment (building automation systems, fire alarm systems, electronic security systems, and AV systems).
  • Coaching, mentoring, and staff development skills; strong leadership orientation.
  • Team leadership, team building, and facilitation skills.
  • Proactive and adaptable, with the ability to influence others and build consensus using strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and conflict resolution skills.
  • Financial analytical skills, including cost control.
  • Ability to facilitate a collaborative working environment for customers and team members.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Project, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Basic knowledge of IT networking principles.

Qualifications

  • Education: College degree, trade school, or equivalent experience. Associates degree in Engineering or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant engineering or field service experience.
  • Preferred experience in one or more of the following industries: electronic, fire alarm & life safety, building automation, and/or AV systems.
  • Previous project supervisory experience is a plus.
