Lead Security Officer - Part-Time

Truman College is seeking a Part-Time Lead Security Officer (2 positions) to support part-time security officers and assistants in the security department. This position reports to the Director of Security or the Assistant Director.

Responsibilities

• Review daily time and attendance cards to ensure they accurately reflect the hours worked by employees.
• Ensure employees adhere to the policies of the District and department.
• Ensure employees are trained and capable of performing their duties.
• Ensure employees are stationed at all posts and present a proper appearance.
• Enforce all District policies, State and Municipal criminal statutes, and safety/security measures to protect campus property and reduce liability risk.
• Patrol building and grounds to maintain a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
• Respond to alarms and/or service calls, ensuring appropriate actions are taken by security personnel.
• Inspect and inventory department equipment, reporting discrepancies to the Director of Security or Assistant Director.
• Write reports as needed.
• May affect an arrest and appear in court as necessary.

Requirements

• Must be a retired or active law enforcement officer in good standing with a current or former law enforcement/corrections agency.
• Must be a full-time police officer or have previous police experience with a State or Municipal law enforcement agency.
• One year of supervisory experience with a State or Municipal law enforcement agency preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or higher preferred.
• Knowledgeable of State and Municipal criminal statutes and arrest procedures.
• No criminal convictions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to handle stressful situations tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally.
• Basic working knowledge of computers and application software.
• Must be self-motivated, prompt, and punctual.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to patrol the entire campus on foot for a full shift.
• Ability to run or jog for short periods during emergencies.
• Ability to stand at an assigned post for extended periods.
• Ability to climb and descend stairs quickly to respond to emergencies.
• Ability to physically restrain and remove a person using appropriate force.
• Ability to bend, twist, stoop, kneel, crawl, and reach in all directions.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to operate security-related equipment (radios, surveillance cameras, telephones, fire alarm panels, fire extinguishers, 2-way radios).
• Ability to drive and operate CCC vehicles.
• Ability to perform CPR, first aid, and operate AED equipment.
• Ability to perform job responsibilities under all weather conditions.

Pay

$30.16 per hour, in accordance with the respective bargaining agreement.
