About the role
The Lead Safety Specialist supports the Clients EHS program to strengthen safety advocacy and ensure compliance across assigned sites. They manage EHS programs, implement health and safety initiatives, and respond to management requests.
Responsibilities
- Manage EHS programs and initiatives to meet regulatory requirements and client needs.
- Maintain certifications and implement health and safety programs at the site level.
- Respond to additional requests from onsite management.
- Support the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and coordinate quarterly practice sessions.
- Facilitate site-wide evacuation drills and support infectious disease and public health responses.
- Report information to management and investigate workplace incidents.
- Communicate concerns and issues to EHS stakeholders and management.
- Provide health and safety support for events, both onsite and offsite.
- Directly line manage team members and indirectly manage safety and security officers.
- Support global and regional level projects and initiatives.
Requirements
- Current passport or ability to obtain one.
- Able to travel approximately 25% of the time, occasionally with limited notice.
- Able to work evening or weekend hours when required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in HSE from a four-year college or university, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, and local health and safety, and environmental regulations.
- ISO 45001 management standard experience is a plus.
- Excellent knowledge of reporting procedures.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, OneNote, PowerPoint, Visio, Excel, and SharePoint.
