About This Role

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Risk Analytics Consultant to join Finance Independent Risk Management. This role provides independent oversight of regulatory capital, data quality, controls, and capital adequacy, with a particular focus on Retail and Operational Risk workstreams and the implementation of Basel III Endgame requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise and consultative guidance for reviewing, challenging, and supporting regulatory capital interpretations, methodologies, models, and results.
  • Partner closely with Finance, Regulatory Interpretation, Model Risk Management, Data Management, and line-of-business stakeholders to ensure compliance with capital rules, integrity of data and controls, and robustness of capital outcomes.
  • Lead complex risk analytics and regulatory capital oversight deliverables, providing technical direction and subject matter expertise.
  • Provide consultative guidance to business and risk partners on regulatory capital, RWA treatment, and related risk analytics topics.
  • Plan and execute work independently, set analytical approach and priorities, and ensure timely, accurate, and well-documented deliverables.
  • Foster a strong risk culture and collaboration across stakeholders; communicate complex topics clearly to varied audiences.
  • Perform Independent Risk Management Oversight and Effective Challenge Across Regulatory capital rule compliance for Retail and Operational Risk workstreams, including interpretation application and documentation expectations.
  • Review Regulatory Interpretation Team consultation memos, assess RWA impact, and recommend risk positions and path forward.
  • Review and challenge advanced systems changes impacting capital calculations, data lineage, and reporting outputs.
  • Identify emerging risks, formulate targeted review plans, and drive issue identification, escalation, and tracking.
  • Review significant transactions and portfolio changes for capital treatment; document conclusions and provide effective challenge.
  • Review compliance rationale documents and supporting evidence to confirm low-level rule requirements are clearly demonstrated and audit ready.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert supporting Basel 3 Endgame implementation, impact assessments, and related governance forums.
  • Data Quality, Controls and Capital Adjustments
  • Assess impact of data defects and control-related issues and monitor remediation.
  • Assess Basel model monitoring results and capital adequacy.
  • Review effectiveness of the Independent Verification & Validation processes and related control environment.
  • Review and challenge of capital results.
  • Perform review of data submissions, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Independently calculate capital results and challenge earnings estimates.
  • Risk Weighted Asset Forecasts
  • Review and challenge RWA forecasts.
  • Identify, escalate, and monitor risks to forecast accuracy and reliability.
  • Change Management
  • Review and challenge changes, to data sources and inputs, data transformations, model changes, and test results.
  • Review, challenge and monitor implementation of new business initiatives and products to ensure rule compliance, data that is fit-for purpose and completeness of risk assessment.
  • Oversight and challenge of Strategic data sourcing and Axiom capital calculator implementation.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Risk Analytics experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.
  • 3+ years of experience leading complex initiatives and influencing stakeholders (may include project, workstream, or technical leadership).

  • Proven communication skills with the ability to influence, develop, partner with, and maintain collaborative relations at all levels within the organization.
  • Knowledge of the infrastructure is needed to support financial risk management.
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills; proven experience driving alignment and delivering results in complex, matrixed environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently, work with a sense of urgency, drive results and build strong internal and external relationships.
  • M.B.A., Master's degree, CPA or CFA preferred.
