Lead Respiratory Therapist - Home Medical Equipment
About the role
Responsible for assembly, delivery, and instructions in the use of respiratory equipment and supplies. Communicates effectively with patients, physicians and health care providers to coordinate services, improve quality of care, establish and document goals and outcomes of care. Complete setup and continuing education of respiratory care modalities, including O2, CPAP and ventilators. Provides support to other staff.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and Manage Allied's respiratory program and respiratory clinical staff
- Manage the respiratory staff schedules
- Establish and maintain respiratory programs to improve outcomes and patient satisfaction with measureable compliance metrics
- Coordinates daily scheduling with other Respiratory Therapists (if applicable) and Customer Service Representative staff.
- Effectively schedules patients to maximize use of time
- Schedules home visits when needed to have a minimal impact on time in the office
- Performs appropriate setup of oxygen, humidity therapy, Non-invasive mechanical ventilation, CPAP, BIPAP, apnea monitors and other respiratory care in accordance with established policy, procedure and physician
- Maintains all certifications associated with level of Respiratory Therapist position
- Provides follow up to referrals in regard to patient outcomes and condition
Qualifications
- Minimum qualifications: Licensed respiratory therapist by the applicable state where services will be performed: MD: Respiratory Care Practitioner through Maryland Board of Physicians OH: Respiratory Care Professional through Ohio Board of Medicine PA: Respiratory Therapist through Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine WV: Licensed Respiratory Therapist Registered (LRTR) through West Virginia Board of Respiratory Care VA: Respiratory Therapist License through the Virginia Board of Medicine
- Basic Life Support Certification
- Valid driver’s license
- PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Five (5) years full-time experience as a Licensed Respiratory Therapist with experience in critical care and home medical equipment. Experience in working with customers in pulmonary rehabilitation. Bilingual (English and Spanish).

- Mental activities; high level of cognitive functioning with medical, biological, musculoskeletal knowledge, diagnostic, communication, interpersonal, organizational, problem solving and decision-making capabilities.
- Ability to communicate verbally with patients, caregivers and staff.
Physical Requirements
- Medium to heavy physical demand (50-100lbs)
- Frequent hand washing required
- Frequent standing, walking
- Occasional sitting
