Lead Registered Nurse

The Lead Registered Nurse (RN) oversees daily patient throughput by effectively managing staff, ensuring a patient-focused approach to care. This role reports directly to the Nurse Manager, who determines the responsibilities of the position.

Responsibilities

• Provides workflow guidance and assists with overseeing the daily operations of Licensed Practical Nurses and Medical Assistants.
• Oversees daily patient throughput through efficiency in rooming and clinical procedures.
• Assists with completing staffing schedules and maintains daily staffing assignments to ensure adequate coverage.
• Communicates the status of daily operations and any workflow issues to the Nurse Manager in a timely manner.
• Ensures rooms are stocked appropriately and prepared between patient visits.
• Develops, maintains, and holds nursing department staff accountable to training protocols for all positions within Primary & Specialty care.

Requirements

• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in New York State.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), or a documented plan to complete BSN within NYSED's RN BSN requirement timeframe.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Minimum one (1) year of experience in a medical office setting, preferably in an HIV/AIDS or other infectious disease practice.
• Demonstrated phlebotomy skills.
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in writing and verbally.
• Familiarity with computers and Microsoft software (Outlook, Word) preferred.
• Familiarity with electronic charting systems (Medent preferred).
• Awareness of and sensitivity to the issues and health disparities faced by underserved populations.
