Lead Registered Nurse

About the Role

The Lead Registered Nurse assists the Director of Nursing in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, and evaluating nursing services. This role periodically updates policies and procedures related to nursing services and functions.

Responsibilities

• Ensures continual delivery of high-quality nursing care.
• Adopts and implements innovative nursing practices to improve the facility.
• Ensures surgical staff remains in compliance with professional development, Company, and regulatory standards.
• Maintains a healthy, collaborative team environment.
• Mentors and trains all nursing staff.
• Ensures and maintains proper documentation of all facility reporting and surgical logs.
• Ensures operation of medical and administrative equipment by verifying emergency equipment availability, completing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting malfunctions, and evaluating new equipment.
• Manages medical supplies and inventory by studying usage reports and anticipating needed supplies.
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge through educational workshops, professional publications, and networking.
• Fosters cooperative relationships among healthcare teams through communication and problem-solving.
• Fills in for nursing vacancies as needed, performing the roles and responsibilities of a Registered Nurse.
• Coordinates annual influenza vaccinations.
• Monitors all aspects of patient care and actively responds to reported patient infections.
• Prepares rooms, sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies.
• Ensures compliance with safety and infection control procedures.
• Adheres to federal, state, and nursing regulations, including patient safety procedures such as patient identification verification.
• Initiates a time-out before procedures to confirm correct patient, procedure, site, and side.
• Identifies patients using three identifiers: full name, date of birth, and zip code, and documents this information.
• Identifies and intervenes in emergency situations.
• Understands and administers regulatory policies (e.g., Joint Commission, CDC, State).
• Deploys, monitors, and ensures integration of operational processes within the facility’s quality programs.
• Implements job-based orientation, training, and ongoing evaluation for all employees.
• Promotes positive customer relations among employees and physicians.
• Oversees and ensures completion of daily, quarterly, annual, and QAPI reports, drills, and paperwork.
• Identifies areas requiring additional education or reinforcement.
• Maintains working knowledge of all equipment and procedures.
• Ensures appropriate staffing levels through maintenance of the nursing schedule.
• Creates, maintains, and updates reports as directed.
• Actively participates in safety, infection control, and quality control committees.
• Completes annual competencies specific to safety surveillance and monitoring.
• Completes quarterly peer reviews and hand-washing assessments for assigned facilities.
• Manages and maintains Emergency/Disaster preparedness procedures.
• Manages all incident reporting for assigned facilities.
• Manages radiation badge supply and assignments.
• Checks work email regularly throughout the workday.
• Participates in and completes all required trainings and in-services.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university in a related field of study.
• Three (3) years’ experience as a Registered Nurse, with at least one (1) year in an administrative nursing role; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
• Knowledge of Internet and Microsoft Office software (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook).
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice or a compact eligible state.
• Current ACLS and BLS certification.
• Certification as an Infection Preventionist.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including exceptional customer service.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with doctors, clinical staff, co-workers, and the public.
• Ability to work individually as well as within a team.
• Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions.
• Flexibility in work schedule.
• Patience and understanding during stressful conditions related to patient health and emergent situations.

• Proof of annual influenza vaccination.
• Completion of two (2)-step PPD.
• Completion of all regulatory competencies prior to beginning work in the ASC.
• Ability to effectively oversee, manage, and direct a team of nursing professionals.
• Strong desire to provide excellent customer service and comply with organizational rules and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in a related field of study.
• One (1) year of prior experience working in a Pain Management practice.
• One (1) year of prior experience working with an Electronic Medical Record (EMR).

Schedule

This position requires a flexible schedule and the ability to respond during stressful conditions related to patient health and emergent situations. Travel for this position will be required up to 100%. While the primary workplace may be closest to the employee’s home, work assignments could be in any of the Company’s locations.

Pay

Pay range: $93,600/year to $104,000 annually. This position is exempt (salaried) and is not eligible for overtime pay. This position is bonus eligible, subject to the terms of the applicable plan.
