Lead Referral Coordinator

Become a part of our caring community as a Referral and Scheduling Coordinator. This role schedules and pre-registers patients for exams and procedures with specialists and providers outside of the primary care physician's office, performing advanced administrative, operational, and customer support duties that require independent initiative and judgment.

About the role

The Referral and Scheduling Coordinator gathers and communicates all relevant information and preparation instructions to patients and referring providers. Decisions typically focus on methods, tactics, and processes for completing administrative tasks and projects. The role regularly exercises discretion and judgment in prioritizing requests and interpreting procedures, working under limited guidance due to prior experience and organizational knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and pre-register patients for exams and procedures with external specialists and providers.
• Perform advanced administrative, operational, and customer support tasks requiring independent initiative.
• Apply intermediate mathematical skills as needed.
• Gather and communicate preparation instructions and relevant information to patients and referring providers.
• Prioritize requests and adapt procedures using discretion and judgment.

Requirements

• 1–3 years of hands-on healthcare experience in a clinical setting, preferably within the Medicare population.
• Less than 2 years of leadership experience.
• Proficiency with medical terminology and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
• Excellent professional communication abilities with all levels of the organization and patients.
• This role is patient-facing and part of the company’s Tuberculosis (TB) screening program; candidates must pass a TB screening if selected.
• Passion for contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare or Business Administration (preferred).
• Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding (preferred).
• Referral experience (preferred).
• Medical Assistant or other professional state certifications related to healthcare (preferred).
• Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred).

Pay

The compensation range reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full-time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. Geographic location and individual pay may vary based on demonstrated job-related skills, knowledge, experience, education, and certifications.

$43,000 – $56,200 per year. This role is eligible for a bonus incentive plan based on company and/or individual performance.
