Department 10182 Radiology Pay Range $38.66 - $76.68 The Lead Radiologic Technologist will perform high quality Diagnostic Imaging exams while providing excellent patient care. Will assist the Radiologic Technologist Supervisor in managing the daily operations and workflow of the Diagnostic modalities. Minimum Work Experience 3 years Clinical radiography experience in a hospital environment (Required) Required Skills/Knowledge Demonstrates working knowledge of all diagnostic imaging equipment and related components. Required Licenses And Certifications Registered Radiography Technologist (ARRT) (Required) Functional Accountabilities Radiographic Positioning & Technique Produce high quality radiographs by using proper positioning and immobilization techniques. Set appropriate exposure factors to produce high quality films. Use good judgment regarding film quality; determines when repeats are required. Perform all exams in a timely and efficient manner . Assist Modality Section Head to maintain excellent imaging and quality within the Modality. Quality Control Assure permanent film identification by using lead markers; identify each radiograph/image with proper and permanent patient data. Follow correct procedures regarding warm-up, use and shut-down of equipment. Check paperwork, film jackets and patient charges for accuracy prior to submission and complete RIS assignments immediately following exam. Maintain cleanliness of exams rooms and equipment. Assume Quality Assurance responsibilities to assist technologists and radiologists in determining acceptability of images; train and orient technologists on new protocols and procedures as needed. Work in conjunction with Modality Section Head to establish and implement consistent imaging protocols; monitor imaging quality of technologists (in partnership with the Modality Section Head) and reports outcomes to Supervisor . Patient Care Greet patients respectfully, introduce self to patient and treat all patients/families in a kind, courteous and professional manner; explain exam to patients/parents; communicate with patient throughout the exam and release patient/parent with appropriate follow-up info.Assure room is prepared & stocked prior to start of exam.Provide daily room/area assignments to technologists.Make every attempt to meet scheduled appointment times and accommodate stat or add-on requests.Cooperative and willing to assist when asked to travel to a CH-affiliated site.Coordinate daily workflow to ensure all patients are serviced in a timely and quality-oriented fashion; prioritize daily patient flow and ensure timely throughput of patients; coordinate lunch schedules for staff and associated coverage. Clinical Safety Adhere to all OSHA regulations. Inquire about menstrual status and possibility of pregnancy for female adolescents and teens. Shield patients whenever possible. Practice personal radiation safety . Immediately report equipment malfunctions to manager in a timely manner . Troubleshoot equipment and computer issues in conjunction with Radiology Manager and IT staff. Professional Development Maintain A.R.R.T . certification. Biennially update CPR certification. Complete mandatory annual reviews. Attend seminars and in-services. Provide leadership to the Modality with regard to patient care and customer service. The disclosed salary range includes the minimum and maximum rates within which Children’s National believes an individual’s base pay rate will fall for this position. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the maximum of the pay range. The exact pay rate for this position will be based on a variety of factors in alignment with the Children’s National compensation philosophy.
