Lead R&D Metrology Technician
Description
Join our collaborative team at Thermo Fisher Scientific as a Lead R&D Metrology Technician (Plastics Consumables). In this role, you’ll partner with engineers and scientists to develop, execute, and continuously improve functional performance and failure-focused measurement methods for lab plasticware and consumables (e.g., tubes, vials, plates, bottles, carboys, and related lab plastics).
You’ll help ensure products are fit-for-purpose in real lab and shipping conditions by designing test approaches that evaluate performance, robustness, degradation, and failure modes (e.g., leak performance, thread/closure integrity, fit testing, stress cracking, chemical compatibility, temperature/pressure exposure, packaging integrity, and other related functional requirements).
This is not an equipment maintenance role; you’ll use metrology and test systems to generate reliable, traceable, decision-ready data, supported by disciplined documentation and strong cross-functional communication.
