Lead Quality Assurance/Quality Control Specialist 2 - Construction Management

This position is expected to involve various field assignments in the southeastern region of the United States. Per diem is offered for those who qualify.

About the Role

The Quality Specialist will play a crucial role in ensuring construction contractors adhere to high standards of quality through all phases of heavy industrial construction projects, including field engineering, construction execution, startup, and warranty phases. This role is pivotal in overseeing and ensuring the peak performance, reliability, and safety of our client's projects within the power generation sector.

Responsibilities

• Review and oversee the Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) program for all project phases, ensuring compliance with contract specifications, design documents, and applicable codes and standards.
• Conduct regular audits of contractor activities to verify conformity with design documents and project specifications; provide constructive feedback and recommendations for improvement.
• Ensure contractors utilize the latest revisions of design documents and maintain accurate records of changes and updates throughout the project lifecycle.
• Monitor the proper storage and maintenance of materials and equipment to ensure they meet quality standards prior to installation.
• Review and evaluate construction test reports and compliance documentation, including welding, concrete tests, non-destructive examination (NDE) tests, welding procedures, and welder qualifications.
• Provide oversight of construction activities, ensuring adherence to quality standards for soils compaction, concrete placement, structural steel bolt-up, rotating equipment alignment, and electrical cable testing.
• Ensure all quality records and "as-built" documentation are properly maintained, documented, and easily accessible.
• Compile and report quality audit results and performance metrics to project management and stakeholders, highlighting areas of concern and recommending corrective actions.
• Assist contractors in pre-planning their quality control processes and activities to foster a culture of quality from the outset of construction.
• Document test and inspection observations accurately, including any deviations or non-conformances identified during the inspection process.
• Track and follow up on non-conformance reports, ensuring corrective actions are taken and documented in a timely manner.
• Regularly summarize and report on QA/QC performance statistics for the project, identifying trends and opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Provide interface between contractors/subcontractors and client.
• Enforce safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment, prioritizing employee well-being and compliance with industry regulations.
• Maintain comprehensive records of all quality activities, inspections, equipment condition, and performance metrics for compliance, reporting, and continuous improvement.
• Provide technical leadership, support, and guidance to plant operators, maintenance teams, and other stakeholders, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.

Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in quality assurance, operations, and maintenance within the power generation industry, with a proven track record of successful projects.
• Familiarity with industry regulations, standards, and best practices related to power plant construction, operations, maintenance, and safety.
• Experience with ASME code welding and familiarity with National Boiler Vessel or repair alterations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead, inspire, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel and work in various locations across the United States as required.

Acceptable Certifications:

• NCCER welding/pipefitter
• AWS-SCWI (Welding Inspector)
• AWS-CRI (Certified Radiographer Interpreter)
• ASNT Level II VT

Pay

Compensation Range: $134,546 - $205,557. The total compensation package includes a base salary and a comprehensive benefits package. Individuals may also be eligible to participate in our yearly discretionary bonus.
