Lead Psychiatric Care Specialist - Day Shift

About the role
The Lead Psychiatric Care Specialist plans and implements activity services for assigned programs, defines and implements treatment goals as part of the treatment team, and provides continuous patient care, observation, interaction, and role modeling under the direction of the Milieu Manager. This role also plays a key part in training and overseeing the Psychiatric Care Association.
Responsibilities
- Complete at least 8 hours of annual continuing education offered by the facility.
- Encourage mental health technicians to take active roles in patient treatment.
- Formulate shift responsibilities with the Charge Nurse and facilitate PCS groups.
- Assist with patient admissions, discharges, and transfers.
- Report patient medical problems to the Registered Nurse.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required; Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred.
- Two years of related experience required.
- Knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques and understanding of mental illness preferred.
- Minimum of one year of experience training and developing staff in psychiatric patient care techniques or at least one year of experience performing similar duties.
- Successful completion of approved Basic Life Support and Crisis Prevention Intervention & Behavioral Management training (certification may be obtained during new hire orientation).
- Employees must be in good standing (employment/corrective action history, evaluation, etc.) to be considered for internal transfers.
