Lead Project Manager

About the Role
As a Business Development Manager, you will support the Florida Power & Light Optional Supplemental Power Services (OSPS) group, which is responsible for selling and implementing backup power solutions for customers, including generators and power conditioning equipment (e.g., UPS). In this role, you will build relationships with decision-makers to drive sales with end-use commercial, industrial, and governmental customers. This role works closely with the OSPS Project Development team to close sales.
Responsibilities
- Work with FPL’s internal Account Management and External Affairs teams to develop customer relationships with end-user beneficiaries and decision-makers
- Prospect for new business opportunities
- Qualify high-potential opportunities to identify customers that would benefit from an OSPS solution
- Document customer needs and collaborate with OSPS’ Project Development team to define solutions and produce a preliminary cost estimate
- Deliver OSPS proposals and negotiate close
- Provide input into the development of territory sales plans
- Help develop customer sales and marketing materials
- Develop account and territory planning
- Work cross-functionally to establish customer relationships resulting in sales for FPL
- Oversee a variety of large-scale projects of high complexity
- Develop detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans, and status reports
- Secure required resources and use formal processes and tools to manage resources, budgets, risks, and changes
- Conduct project meetings and track project progress and analysis
- Identify issues and challenges, measure and validate results, and implement solutions
- Provide expert information to internal and external clients on complex issues
- Create and communicate presentation materials for report-outs and updates with various levels of internal and external stakeholders
- Conduct external research and stay abreast of new developments or innovative advancements pertaining to the project
- Provide coaching, leadership, and direction to the project team
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School Grad / GED
- Bachelor's or equivalent experience
- 6+ years of relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Engineering or related technical degree (undergraduate or graduate level)
- Prior business development or sales background
- Distributed generation or backup generator experience
- Master's Degree
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification

Schedule
This is a full-time, exempt position.
This role will be based at the Customer Service East office in West Palm Beach, FL; however, the work location is flexible.
