About the role

Current is a leading consumer fintech platform transforming financial access for everyday Americans with over 6 million members. Based in NYC, the company provides integrated financial solutions that help members build better financial futures.

Current is hiring a leader to build a dedicated first‑line Fraud Risk capability. As the Lead Product Manager for Fraud Risk you will define the discovery, architecture, and roadmap of fraud risk systems end‑to‑end, working closely with Payments, Core Processing, Engineering, Data Science, Compliance/Legal, and Customer Service leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the roadmap for Current’s first‑line fraud risk capabilities, shaping discovery into a sequenced, prioritized plan.
  • Own product strategy for KYC and account‑related risk controls—onboarding, ongoing monitoring, and account access—balancing member experience against fraud while ensuring compliance.
  • Lead design and evolution of fraud detection, prevention, and resolution capabilities, specifying how signals (device, behavioral, network, transactional) feed into decisioning.
  • Own delivery end‑to‑end, from detailed specifications through engineering build, QA, staged rollout, and production launch.
  • Own transaction limits, rules, and controls across products and rails, including setting, testing, and adjusting them over time.
  • Partner with engineers to debug and root‑cause production issues, tracing problems through logs, data pipelines, and system flows.
  • Evaluate, integrate, and continuously optimize third‑party fraud risk vendors and modern AI/agentic tooling, building proprietary capability where it matters.
  • Leverage and architect AI workflows and autonomous agents to automate risk operations, investigation summaries, and fraud role discovery.
  • Collaborate with Compliance/Legal to ensure fraud risk product decisions meet regulatory obligations (BSA/AML, CIP) without over‑indexing on compliance at the expense of member experience.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of Product Management experience in fraud risk, trust & safety, or a related domain, preferably in a high‑growth fintech or fraud‑risk vendor environment.
  • Deep, hands‑on understanding of fraud risk system architecture and operation, including rules engines, signal ingestion, model scoring, case management, and the trade‑offs between friction and loss.
  • Experience with KYC/CIP onboarding flows and identity verification systems, and a working knowledge of the regulatory context (BSA/AML).
  • Proven ability to lead discovery and shape ambiguous, 0‑to‑1 problem spaces into a sequenced roadmap, owning delivery through full production launch and post‑launch iteration.
  • Experience partnering with engineering on system architecture decisions for fraud risk tooling—build vs. buy, vendor integration design, workflow tooling.
  • Strong analytical fluency; comfortable using data to diagnose fraud patterns, evaluate control performance, and make loss/friction trade‑offs.
  • Comfort with ambiguity, enthusiasm for building from scratch, and a passion for modern AI tools and agentic workflows to accelerate product discovery and automate manual tasks.
  • Ability to dive deep with engineers on implementation details and to translate trade‑offs for executives and cross‑functional partners without a fraud background.
