Circle is seeking a Lead Product Designer to join their Identity Team. This role is part of a horizontal platform team, focusing on designing foundational systems like Authentication, Roles & Permissions, and Billing that power all other product teams.

About the Role

The Lead Product Designer will transform Circle's chaotic workflows into a unified platform experience. They will design intuitive systems for managing roles, permissions, and team management, as well as a scalable billing infrastructure. The role also involves tackling high-stakes flows such as Multi-Factor Authentication, Single Sign-On setup, and account recovery, ensuring security and usability.

Responsibilities

  • Audit and unify fragmented workflows into a cohesive platform experience.
  • Design how users experience Roles, Permissions, and Team Management, making complex logic intuitive for both admins and end-users.
  • Design a scalable billing and subscription experience that integrates seamlessly across the Circle ecosystem.
  • Tackle high-stakes flows like Multi-Factor Authentication, SSO setup, and account recovery, ensuring security without compromising usability.

Requirements

  • Proven track record working on platform teams, internal tools, or design systems.
  • Mastery of UI and visual design, with a focus on typography, color, layout, and hierarchy.
  • Experience wrangling technical complexity and translating messy requirements into clean, logical UI.
  • Expertise in Figma, creating scalable components with auto-layout, variables, and variants for easy consumption by other designers.
  • Strong strategic communication skills, able to articulate design decisions and negotiate with engineering partners to maintain design quality.
  • Empathy for both internal and external users, understanding the needs of both Circle's customers and the developers and designers who build with Circle's tools.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in product design, preferably in a platform or system design role.
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Interaction Design, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Portfolio demonstrating a deep understanding of UI/UX principles and a commitment to detail and craftsmanship.
  • Experience with Figma and similar design tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
