The YMCA at the Southeast Family YMCA is an approved Pilot Site for Preschool For All starting in the Fall of 2024. This Multnomah County-funded program connects 3 and 4 year olds with a free, culturally responsive, and inclusive preschool experience.
About the role
A Lead Teacher will work in the program supervising teachers, aides, and volunteers to provide a fun, safe, and positive social-emotional experience for young children while supporting and enriching the lives of children and families in the community.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and developmentally appropriate classroom environment
- Develop and implement a fun and engaging curriculum
- Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and the community
Requirements
- Pass a YMCA Background Check
- Meet all lead teacher standards as dictated by Oregon's Department of Early Learning and Care and Preschool for All, including one of the following:
- Step 7 or higher in the Oregon Registry
- Associates Degree or higher in a child development related field
- State or nationally recognized credential related to preschool (inquire for more information)
- Current enrollment in the Oregon State Childcare Registry or ability to enroll prior to employment
- Current CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 30 days
- Current Food Handlers certification or ability to obtain within 30 days
- At least 18 years of age
