About the role

NAPS is seeking a nurturing and energetic Preschool (PreK) Lead Classroom Teacher to create a warm and engaging early learning environment. This full-time position focuses on fostering the social, emotional, and cognitive growth of our youngest learners through structured play, exploration, and foundational academic skills.

Responsibilities

  • Create and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans that support early literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional development.
  • Establish a safe, nurturing, and structured classroom environment where children feel secure and encouraged to explore.
  • Use hands-on, play-based learning strategies to promote curiosity and foundational skills.
  • Support early language development through storytelling, songs, and interactive discussions.
  • Observe and assess student progress, communicating regularly with parents about their child’s growth and milestones.
  • Collaborate with teacher aides and other staff to ensure a positive learning experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
  • At least 1 year of experience working with young children in a classroom setting.
  • Valid Maryland Preschool Teacher Certification or equivalent.
  • Experience with early childhood education standards and best practices.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Knowledge of child development and learning theories.
