About the role
Assist with the day-to-day operations of the prefabrication shop, managing task completion, improving group efficiency, and escalating performance or conduct issues to the Prefabrication Shop Manager. Coordinate manpower, deliveries, and communication with project leadership while maintaining warehouse space, tools, and equipment. Work in a team environment to support branch and department efforts, track documentation, and solve problems.
Responsibilities
- Provide direction to production team members by assigning tasks and ensuring efficient labor use
- Read and understand assembly instructions, worksheets, or drawings
- Create task-specific Bill of Materials (BOMs) for prefabricated products
- Manage warehouse functions, including receiving material, inventory controls, and organization/storage of building materials
- Conduct Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) checks to maintain and improve product standards
- Safely load and unload trucks by hand or with equipment
- Package and palletize products while adhering to quality guidelines
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free production shop with necessary materials and tools
- Track storage and maintenance of prefabrication tools and equipment
- Model safe, productive, and on-task behavior for other employees
- Prioritize safety for every assigned task
- Manage day-to-day production operations, assign tasks, and facilitate handoffs to field teams
- Control and track material quantities for projects, reporting deficiencies immediately
- Meet with project teams to collect, interpret, and convey critical project information
- Participate in communications between the prefabrication department and project teams
- Professionally establish and maintain customer relationships
- Perform additional duties supporting branch success as assigned
Requirements
- High School Diploma (or equivalent) required
- Electrical apprenticeship desired
- 10+ years of experience in the electrical industry
- Wide range of electrical construction experience preferred
- Previous experience managing others
Skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to interact with all levels of the company and customers
- Ability to work independently and as a team leader, guiding and motivating others
- Positive safety attitude and personal integrity (non-negotiable)
Physical Requirements
- Frequent time spent in warehouse and shop, exposed to noise and moving machinery
- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds
- Constant movement on your feet
- Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers
- Travel to construction sites, exposed to outdoor elements, noise, and prolonged standing/walking
- Ability to kneel, crawl, bend, climb ladders, reach, handle with fingers, and differentiate colors
