Lead Pre-school Teacher (Family Educator 2) - South Hill

This position is a full-time grant funded role with employment generally aligned to the K-12 academic year. Reemployment is contingent upon job performance, continued program funding, and adherence to County procedures.

About the Role

As an experienced preschool teacher, you will create a safe and engaging learning environment for preschool children while working as a team to provide quality services to children and families enrolled in the Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP). You will document developmental progress and make assessments to scaffold children's learning. This role involves managing preschool children safely and fostering an inclusive environment for children with diverse individual needs.

Responsibilities

• Manage an early childhood classroom and conduct scheduled home visits to parents/guardians.
• Navigate an active classroom environment consistently.
• Support a safe, positive social and emotional classroom learning environment, including fostering attachment and bonding relationships.
• Assess the social, intellectual, emotional, nutritional, and physical needs of children; develop child- and adult-directed educational activities based on these assessments.
• Provide an integrated, child-centered, comprehensive curriculum and multicultural environment designed to meet the needs of every child, including those with special needs.
• Follow ECEAP child guidance and support procedures.
• Meet deadlines for assignments with accuracy.
• Demonstrate excellent customer service, multitasking, and the ability to work effectively under pressure and with distractions.
• Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with coworkers, supervisors, children, families, and community partners.

Requirements

• Associate Degree or two-year degree in social work, psychology, or a relevant field from an accredited institution.
• Two years of successful relevant experience.
• Pediatric First Aid/CPR card and Food Handler’s permit required within 90 days of hire.
• Health statement, TB skin test (or doctor’s statement/chest x-ray for positive tests), and proof of MMR or immunity required upon hire.
• Successful completion of a Portable Background Check through the Department of Early Learning before the first day of employment.
• A criminal history check, including fingerprints, is required prior to hire.
• A valid Washington State driver’s license may be required if travel is part of the role.
