About This Role Ascension Episcopal Day School serves the community by providing a nurturing, stimulating and supportive Christian educational environment for children ages 6 weeks thru 5 years. The Lead Teacher will be responsible for creating a nurturing, innovative, collaborative, and supportive learning community for 15 children ages 3 yrs old. The Lead Teacher is responsible for the day-to-day management of one classroom and the supervision of 1 Assistant Teachers and 1 Afternoon assistant. This is a 12-month professional position. Work hours are 7:20 am to 3:20 pm. What You'll Do MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Assist in the creation and maintenance of a safe and stimulating classroom environment. Assist in the implementation of curriculum conductive to the cognitive, physical, social, creative, and emotional development of young children. Actively engage students in activities and explorations that encourage curiosity, creativity, movement, and problem-solving appropriate to the development levels. Model developmentally appropriate behavior management techniques. Assist in the maintenance of attendance and childcare records for the classroom. Work cooperatively and effectively as a team member by communicating information on a continuous basis and attending staff meetings. Participate in staff development opportunities and maintain knowledge of current child development practices. Consistently maintain open and friendly relationships with each child's family. Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible. Act as a team leader in your classroom when the Lead Teacher is not present, including modeling best teaching practices and professional behavior. Assist with school health practices including cleaning/sterilizing the classroom throughout the day and basic childcare routines such as diapering, cleaning noses, and washing hands. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS: Ascension Day School is an educational center and not a daycare. We require Lead Teachers to maintain a high-quality learning environment. The successful candidate will have, at minimum: An associate and or bachelor's degree in early childhood education or a related field.2 years teaching experience in an early education center. Advanced knowledge of early education instructional design and teaching methods.Advanced knowledge of child mental, cognitive, and physical development. Supervisory and leadership experience.Effective oral and written communication skills. The successful candidate should have the following qualifications: One year of experience in an early education center. Some college-level courses in early education or a related field. Early education training including knowledge of early education teaching methods and child development theory. Effective oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work with diverse populations.
