Lead Porter (Assistant Manager)
About the Role
Pennybyrn has an opportunity for an experienced Lead Porter (Assistant Manager) to join our innovative, inclusive, and compassionate life plan community. This position assists the Director of Environmental Services with the Housekeeping and Laundry team and performs Porter duties within a designated board, serving our Independent Living neighborhood, which includes 175 apartments and 49 cottages (each up to 3 bedrooms), as well as community spaces such as common areas, 3 restaurant venues, an event venue, and a wellness center.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the team's daily tasks, oversee the cleaning schedule, and ensure timely response to Resident needs.
- Provide staff training, support, and guidance.
- Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and ensure proper trash disposal.
- Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation, including hazardous waste disposal.
- Act as a liaison between the team and the Director, Residents, and other departments.
- Provide expertise in flooring care using specialized floor machinery (buffers, extractors) to maintain various surfaces, including routine floor maintenance such as stripping, waxing, buffing, shampooing, and stain removal.
- Perform daily Porter tasks throughout the building, including soiled utilities management and set up/break down of events.
Requirements
- Previous supervisory experience within a large janitorial team.
- Prior work experience in hospitality or healthcare settings.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to motivate the team.
- Excellence in service, professionalism, reliability, and a willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting, move the entire body, and stand/walk for long distances.
- Understanding, patience, and tact in dealing with the chronically ill.
- Detail-oriented with a positive attitude and strong teamwork skills.
- Flexibility for work schedule, including the ability to work Monday-Friday, 6:30 am - 3:00 pm, and rotate weekends.
Pay
$20.00 per hour
