Lead Plumbing Technician
About the role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Lead Plumbing Technician to oversee residential plumbing projects and serve as a technical expert in the field.
Responsibilities
- Lead and perform installation, maintenance, and repair of residential plumbing systems, including water heaters and water treatment solutions
- Serve as the on-site project lead, ensuring jobs are completed efficiently, on time, and to company standards
- Train, mentor, and support the development of junior technicians and apprentices
- Diagnose complex plumbing issues and deliver effective, long-term solutions
- Ensure all work complies with applicable local, state, and federal codes and regulations
- Communicate clearly with homeowners regarding system issues, solutions, and preventative maintenance
- Identify opportunities for system upgrades or additional services that align with customer needs
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance to maximize system performance
- Maintain accurate job documentation, service records, and material usage
- Uphold safety standards and maintain clean, organized job sites
Qualifications
- 5+ years of residential plumbing experience (lead or supervisory experience preferred)
- Strong expertise in water heaters, filtration systems, and water treatment solutions
- Proven ability to train and mentor others in a field environment
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Experience with software such as Microsoft Office, ServiceTitan, Salesforce, or similar platforms
- Willingness to pursue continued education or certifications (e.g., State Plumbing License, Journeyman Certification, EPA Certification, Water Treatment Certification)
- OSHA and CPR certifications preferred
- Knowledge & Skills
- Advanced knowledge of residential plumbing systems, codes, and safety regulations
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Working knowledge of HVAC systems is a plus
- Ability to manage projects and adapt in dynamic jobsite environments
- Physically capable of working in confined or challenging conditions
- Technical Expertise
- Skilled in pipe fitting, cutting, threading, and welding using manual and power tools
- Experience with modern plumbing technologies (tankless water heaters, smart water systems, eco-friendly fixtures)
- Proficient with plumbing tools and diagnostic equipment, including video inspection tools
- Knowledge of proper sanitation and safe waste disposal practices
- Ability to identify customer-focused upgrade opportunities

Work Environment
A field-based role at residential job sites. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and climb for extended periods; comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights; ability to lift up to 50 pounds; must be able to distinguish color-coded systems and components.

The starting salary for this opportunity ranges based on location and experience. Other rewards may include annual bonus eligibility, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards.
