Lead Platform Engineer
About the role
The Lead Platform Engineer is a member of the Mainframe Performance team. This is a technical position responsible for the overall performance of the Mainframe environment. Duties include the balancing of resources across the Z system complex, reporting and analysis of performance metrics, system tuning, and responding to issues.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and optimize IBM z/OS mainframe environments supporting core applications.
- Proactively Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in z/OS subsystems and applications utilizing the z/OS ecosystem.
- Provide L2 diagnostics and production support of a z/OS mainframe environment.
- Analyze and tune CPU, Memory, I/O, Network, LPARs configurations, and Parallel Sysplex.
- Configure and support performance testing environments; provide detailed analysis of results.
- Ensure proper prioritization of critical path batch workloads.
- Drive modernization and observability efforts on the mainframe, including new tools and products to enhance reporting, alerting, and advanced analytics.
- Support subsystem SME’s including DB2, CICS, Network, and Storage.
- Provide consulting services to IT staff on performance issues.
- Serve as a trusted coach and mentor within the team.
- Communicate effectively across the organization.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience
- Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience
- Expertise with WLM and z/OS internals knowledge
- Experience with mainframe monitoring tools (e.g., Mainview or equivalent).
- Knowledge of key subsystems including DB2, MQ, CICS and WebSphere.
- Capability to evaluate and recommend the adoption of new tools and techniques to enhance the mainframe observability profile.
- Teamwork, leadership, coaching, mentoring skills.
- Demonstrate strong ethical behavior.

Pay
The salary range is indicative for roles at the same level within DTCC across all US locations. Actual salary is determined based on the role, location, individual experience, skills, and other considerations.
Schedule
DTCC offers a flexible/hybrid model of 3 days onsite and 2 days remote (onsite Tuesdays, Wednesdays and a third day unique to each team or employee).
