Lead Person

About the role
The Lead Person provides direction for the sanitation crew within a designated area of the plant. This position is trained in multiple jobs, can assist in training team members, and supports the supervisor as requested. You will work cooperatively with management, team members, customers, and regulatory agencies to ensure sanitation procedures are followed and maintain open communication across the plant.
Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize equipment and workspace in a designated area of the plant.
- Ensure team members in the assigned area complete job tasks to QA and USDA standards.
- Inspect equipment to ensure all areas are clean for pre-op inspections.
- Handle chemicals to ensure usage is within specified limits.
- Monitor and provide personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Meet with the Supervisor regularly to address issues, including missing or damaged parts and equipment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Leadership and decision-making skills.
- 6 or more months of experience in sanitation and/or the food processing industry.
- Ability to take direction and instruction from management and be accountable for own actions.
- Safety awareness and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in extreme temperature fluctuations.
Work Environment
This position involves working in wet, hot, or cold environments while wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Shift may vary depending on location.
