Lead Pastor

First Baptist Church of Elkins is prayerfully seeking a full-time Lead Pastor. We are a multi-generational, Southern Baptist church located in Northwest Arkansas just a few miles southeast of Fayetteville.

We believe our next pastor will be filled with the Holy Spirit to boldly proclaim the Word of God with a focus on applying it in everyday lives. We are looking for a Pastor who deeply loves his congregation and has a heart for community outreach, shown both in word and deed.

FBCE began in 1969 as a church mission with the goal of reaching the people of Elkins with the love of Christ. We exist to help people connect with God and others in vital relationship, grow in their walk with God, and serve one another in love. We are a mid-size congregation with an average of 130 in morning worship and thriving mid-week children and youth programs averaging over 130 students during the school year.

Responsibilities

• Communicate faith and beliefs through inspirational preaching and teaching
• Provide leadership vision and a compelling plan for the future of the church
• Develop and strengthen lay leadership
• Counsel members dealing with personal problems
• Care for individual members, including visiting the sick, grieving, and homebound
• Contact and follow up with potential and new members
• Work with individual groups within the church: committees, deacons, etc.
• Support mission opportunities and evangelistic witness, both local and worldwide
• Participate in denominational organizations (WMBA, ABSC, SBC)
• Administer and manage church staff and programs
• Participate in community activities

Requirements

• Meet the biblical qualifications of a pastor found in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:6-9, and 1 Peter 5:1-5
• Minimum of 5 years of prior experience as a Lead Pastor
• Master of Divinity preferred, from an accredited Southern Baptist seminary
• In full agreement and compliance with the doctrinal statements of the Southern Baptist Statement of Faith and Message (2000)
• Willing to live within the Elkins, Arkansas community
• Preference for the candidate to be married
