Responsibilities

  • Work Leader Duties
    Under general supervision of the Parking Manager/Supervisor, this position will be directly responsible for the job activities of all parking staff.
    Ensures that the operation is running effectively and efficiently throughout the course of each day.
    Issue directives, adjust work schedules, open/close operations, issue supplies, audit lunch/break adherence, coordinate special projects, coordinate, and assign weekly assignments, address operational issues, and provide conflict resolution as needed.
    Ensure that all department and University policies and procedures are properly followed by the staff and will report any issues/problems to management for proper follow-up.
    Oversee the issuance of tickets and fee collections for cashier/valet operations and/or special events, according to established departmental policies and procedures.
    Maintain a working knowledge of all campus parking areas and a thorough knowledge of all daily/monthly parking permit types and the rules and regulations that govern eligibility and access for each permit type.
    Maintain a working knowledge of relevant sections of the California Vehicle Code along with current citation descriptions and fees.
    Provide explanations to customers regarding the reason(s) a citation was issued and the process to pay or contest a citation.
    Operate mobile license plate recognition enforcement system to ensure accuracy when enforcing campus parking areas.
    Issue citations and warning notices in accordance with department expectations.
    Identify and prioritize areas that need additional compliance support and provide recommendations to Supervisor regarding locations that are non-compliant.
    Assist with facility maintenance and cleaning projects.
    Operate University assigned vehicles.
    Provide break coverage for cashiers, valets, and enforcement officers.
    Perform as a cashier, valet attendant or enforcement officer as needed.
    Assist with jumpstarts and vehicle lockouts.
    Perform ambassador duties, assisting customers as necessary.
    Complete administrative duties as needed.
    Complete inventory for supplies on a monthly basis.
  • Performs Other Related Duties As Requested, Assigned, Or Required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2-year valet and/or related parking industry work experience
  • High School diploma/GED or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly and effectively
  • Ability to operate manual, automatic, and electric vehicles in and out of tight parking spaces quickly and efficiently
  • Possess basic computer skills for valet operations administrative duties
  • Perform basic mathematical calculations
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a professional, courteous, and efficient manner with the public, faculty, staff, and co-workers and to function well under period of stress
  • Demonstrated record of exceptional attendance, punctuality, and excellent customer service
  • Act in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, and standards

Required Licenses And/or Certifications

  • Valid California Driver’s License and an excellent driving record required; no license restrictions other than for corrective lenses (applicants are required to present a current copy of their DMV record with their application/resume)
  • Class C with CA DMW H6 Driving Record Report
