Lead Operating Engineer-JLL What this job involves: As a Lead Operating Engineer at JLL, you'll be at the forefront of maintaining and optimizing critical building systems that keep our clients' facilities running smoothly and efficiently. This role places you in a position where your technical expertise directly shapes outcomes for the operations team and the occupants who depend on reliable, safe building environments. You'll oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of complex mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems while leading a team of engineers and technicians. You'll serve as the technical authority on-site, troubleshooting sophisticated building automation systems, coordinating preventive maintenance programs, and ensuring all operations meet regulatory standards and client expectations. What your day-to-day will look like: Oversee daily operations of all building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, and building automation systems (BAS) Lead, mentor, and schedule a team of operating engineers and technicians, fostering their professional development and ensuring high performance standards Conduct regular inspections and diagnostics of mechanical and electrical equipment to identify potential issues before they impact building operations Coordinate and execute preventive maintenance programs, ensuring all systems operate at peak efficiency and comply with manufacturer specifications Respond to emergency situations and critical system failures, making real-time decisions to minimize downtime and maintain occupant comfort and safety Maintain detailed documentation of all maintenance activities, system performance data, and compliance records using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) Collaborate with facility managers, contractors, and vendors to plan and oversee major repairs, system upgrades, and capital improvement projects Required qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in building operations and maintenance, including at least 2 years in a lead or supervisory capacity EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification (Type I, II, III, and Universal) Comprehensive knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical distribution, plumbing, building automation systems, and energy management Strong leadership and communication skills with demonstrated ability to train, mentor, and manage technical teams effectively Proficiency with CMMS software and building automation platforms for monitoring and controlling building systems Preferred qualifications: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, facilities management, or related technical discipline Experience with advanced building automation platforms and energy analytics software OSHA 30-Hour Construction or General Industry certification, confined space entry training, and other relevant safety credentials Previous experience in commercial office buildings, life sciences facilities, healthcare environments, or mission-critical data centers Knowledge of sustainability practices, LEED operations, and energy efficiency optimization strategies Schedule: M-F 2:00PM-10:30PM Location: Round Rock, TX
