Lead Night Cleaner

Responsible for coordinating, scheduling, and supervising the activities of the building/facility cleaning staff to ensure offices, hallways, stairs, and other areas are kept in clean and orderly condition. May also supervise clean-up and basic maintenance of surrounding grounds and premises.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, schedule, and assign cleaning staff in daily interior cleaning tasks, including:
    • Emptying waste receptacles and removing debris/trash
    • Vacuuming/shampooing floors and carpets
    • Dusting and cleaning furniture
    • Cleaning and restocking restrooms
    • Washing walls, polishing, and mopping floors
    • Cleaning up spills and placing mats/runners in inclement weather
    • Cleaning windows and window coverings
  • Inspect building areas to ensure work is completed properly, issue supplies and equipment, and conduct inventory of materials.
  • May assist with screening, hiring, training, and performance reviews of cleaning staff, including recommendations for promotions, transfers, or dismissals.
  • Prepare and present reports on room occupancy, hours worked, staff assignments, tasks performed, and department expenses.
  • Supervise and assist with exterior building and premises cleaning, including:
    • Snow removal
    • Exterior walls and windows
    • Parking lots, walkways, gardens, and lawns
    • Pools/spas, curbs, gutters, and exterior hallways/stairwells
  • Assign staff to assist with minor maintenance and repair work, such as:
    • Painting and replacing light bulbs/fixtures
    • Replacing windows and moving furniture/equipment
    • Repairing doors, gates, and minor landscaping
    • Simple plumbing and fixture repairs/replacements
  • Supervise or perform additional duties as needed, including:
    • Gardening and lawn care
    • Cleaning/maintaining outdoor furnishings
    • Inventory control and supply ordering
    • Assisting with tenant moves
  • Respond promptly to spills, emergency situations, and notify management of repairs or safety issues, such as:
    • Broken lights, equipment, or fixtures
    • Damaged structures or ruptured pipes/plumbing
    • Heating/cooling or ventilation problems
    • Other observable safety concerns
  • Ensure safe operation and training for cleaning equipment, tools, and chemical agents to avoid harm to floors, fixtures, individuals, and the environment.
  • Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for cleaning products and ensure staff is trained on Hazard Communication Program and proper use of safety gear (e.g., eye protection, gloves, aprons).
  • Dispose of cleaning agents and chemicals in an environmentally friendly manner, following SDS and regulatory guidelines.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience, preferably at the supervisory level.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge.
  • Ability to follow and provide oral and written instructions.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Detail-oriented, thorough, and results-driven.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel) and Work Order Systems.
  • Ability to supervise while working collaboratively with others.
  • Reliable, observant, flexible, and courteous.

Work Environment

This role operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. Regular travel between properties in varying weather conditions is required.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to stoop, stand, climb, and frequently lift a minimum of 50 lbs. of equipment (e.g., pumps, tools, ladders).
  • Regularly crouch and reach to install/move equipment by bending forward at the waist or bending legs and spine.
  • Movement between departments, floors, and properties to facilitate work.
  • Ability to speak clearly and read/understand information presented orally and in writing.
  • Regular use of vision abilities to read printed material, drawings, and schematics.

Pay

The compensation for this position is $16.15 - $19.00 per hour, depending on factors such as geographic location, experience, qualifications, and applicability of collective bargaining agreements. The company will not pay less than minimum wage for this role.
