About the role

Provide direction to Forklift Operators, including training, work assignment, and problem resolution within your area of responsibility. Operate gasoline-, liquefied gas-, or electric-powered industrial equipment with lifting devices (sit-down, stand-up, clamp, or other elevating equipment) to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, or move products, equipment, or materials from rail cars in a distribution center or storage yard.

Responsibilities

  • Support and train newly hired forklift operators.
  • Assist supervisors and management in planning, assigning, and directing work.
  • Load, unload, move, stock, and stage products and materials using powered industrial equipment.
  • Maintain equipment and materials in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion.
  • Inspect assigned equipment daily.
  • Operate all equipment safely and efficiently following prescribed work methods and OSHA standards.
  • Unload inbound shipments safely and move product to storage locations.
  • Stack and store product in appropriate areas efficiently.
  • Pull and prepare products for shipment, ensuring accurate number and types of products.
  • Move product from staging/storage areas into rail cars, trailers, or containers.
  • Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage; report quality variances.
  • Inventory materials on the work floor and supply workers as needed.
  • Follow customer requirements to ensure load count, product stability, and safe loading/unloading.
  • Coordinate with other departments (Customer Service, Transportation, Maintenance).
  • Perform good housekeeping practices and clean-as-you-go processes.
  • Conduct operations and equipment use in a manner that promotes safety; report unsafe conditions.
  • Follow corporate and site-specific Good Manufacturing Practices; report noncompliance.
  • Observe all company safety rules and assist in enforcement as appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One or more years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Forklift Operator experience, specifically with rail operations.
  • Ability to successfully complete post-hire assessments.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain equipment certifications (e.g., OSHA, company-specific).
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (e.g., protective footwear, eyewear, gloves).

Pay

$23.50 per hour.
